In line with this, international students are required by law to obtain a student residence permit to enable a smooth stay throughout the duration of their program in Ghana. Once in Ghana, international students are advised to visit the international student\u2019s services office in their institution of study to apply for their residence permits. The <a href=\"https:\/\/home.gis.gov.gh\/\">Ghana Immigration Service<\/a> is the agency of Government under the Ministry of the Interior that approves, and issues residence permits to students.<\/p>\n<h2>Requirements for Student Residence Permit<\/h2>\n<p>To apply for a student residence permit, you will be required to provide documentation for the process. Below is the list of required documents for the application.<\/p>\n<p>1.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Application letter addressed to the Comptroller General of GIS<\/p>\n<p>2.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Introductory letter from the school\/institution of study<\/p>\n<p>3.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 A copy of the student\u2019s admission letter<\/p>\n<p>4.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Proof of payment of school fees<\/p>\n<p>5.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Original copy of non-Citizen ID card<\/p>\n<p>6.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 2 passport size pictures<\/p>\n<p>7.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Original Passport<\/p>\n<p>As part of the application process, the applicant is required to complete a residence permit form and attach his\/her passport bio-data page to it. This form is obtained free of charge at the Ghana Immigration Service office. Where the information does not apply to you, indicate <strong>\u201cN\/A\u201d or \u201cNon-Applicable<\/strong>\u201d. It is not advisable to leave any of the sections blank or unanswered. The GIS effectively assesses the application on its own merit and takes an appropriate decision. Upon scrutiny, if the agency finds any issue in either the documentation presented or the information provided, the application may be queried. The only difference with the other charges is the cost of the non-citizen ID card which is US$60 instead of US$120.<\/p>\n<h3>Conclusion<\/h3>\n<p>Students are advised to secure all the necessary documentation to apply and obtain their residence permit to avoid being fined for violation of law.
